Storytelling for children
Storytelling adventures inspired by nature! Our youngest storytellers will learn and practice some key tools of Restorative Storytelling™ including nonverbal communication, different ways to pay attention, vocality, and story-listening.
Through playful exploration we learn about the natural world, about each other and ourselves, sharing the stories that unfold from these experiences in a creative and meaningful way.
The Storyteller's Garden
An immersive online storytelling journey for children (5–9 yrs) to rediscover the magic of the natural world.
The Storyteller’s Garden is an immersive 5-week online experience designed to turn "screen time" into "green time." We don’t just tell stories; we teach children how to find them. We follow the natural rhythm of the Earth across four distinct seasonal cycles. Each "season" is a 5-week deep dive into a different element, teaching children to listen to the land with their hearts as well as their ears.
Why Storytelling with Nature Matters
In an increasingly fast-paced digital world, the art of oral storytelling offers a profound developmental anchor. This course is designed to cultivate deep focus by encouraging children to slow down and witness the stories of their "gardens (or any green spaces they have access to) — the slow unfurling of a leaf or the patient work of a spider.
In doing so, children develop observational skills and a rich sensory vocabulary that fuels their innate creativity. More than just an art project, this is a practice in nature connection; it fosters an ecological identity where the natural world is not a backdrop, but a living collaborator.
The Four Seasons
Autumn (Air): The Inspiration. We listen to the whispers and gather the seeds of our stories.
Winter (Earth): The Incubation. We go deep, stay quiet, and let our story-seeds rest in the dark soil.
Spring (Water): The Flow. Our stories wake up, sprout, and find their rhythm and movement.
Summer (Fire): The Radiance. Our stories are fully grown, bright, and shared in the heat of the sun.
What’s inside each season:
-
Weekly "sparks": Short, playful prompts to ignite their imagination.
-
The Nature Journal: A personal journal to help them document the stories of the season.
-
The Storyteller’s Toolkit: Learn to use the four directions of listening to build characters and plots.
-
A Community of Wonder: Share your discoveries with a small group of fellow explorers. Each season will culminate with a collaborative shared story.
