ABOUT THIS EVENT
A free, council-supported creative series for children aged 5–10 years. This event is now full but you can join our waitlist to be notified if any spots become available.
Give your child a gentle morning of creativity, nature connection and open-ended exploration. Over three sessions, we will gather beneath the trees to paint, shape, build and follow our curiosity at an unhurried pace. Art in the Gardens is a three-part series of art provocations during which children explore colour, texture and form in the natural world.
Session 1 (December 15): Gathering Colours
We begin with a slow wander through the gardens, “collecting colours” from petals, leaves and the shifting light. Children create their own personalised palette and learn a wet-on-wet watercolour technique to bring these colours to life on paper.
Session 2 (December 17): Shaping Texture
In this tactile session, children explore patterns and textures found in nature and learn to recreate them in clay. They’ll be introduced to pinching and coiling techniques to shape simple vessels inspired by what they’ve discovered.
Session 3 (December 19): Creating with Form
Our final session invites children to forage fallen natural treasures and craft a multi-surfaced artwork. Working with wood, fibres, leaves and pods, they will create a piece that reflects the many shapes and stories of the garden.
Gently guided by Lidia, from Big Scrub Nature Play, Art in the Gardens is a creative invitation to connect with nature—one brushstroke, fingerprint and foraged treasure at a time.
Please note: This is a free community event sponsored by Noosa Council. We just ask that all participants complete a short survey as part of their registration - you can do this online or in person during the event.
